Live Sound Engineer
Jimmy
I been doing sound professionally on and off for a long time. I started working in bands with my brother, doing sound through the 1980s. I played in bars that don’t even exist anymore. Things changed in the beginning on the 90s. After doing music for 10 years, it was time for a break. That short break turned into a 20 year span, raising a family and going back to college.
Starting at the end of the 2000s, I joined with my son supporting the band Dirty Little Secret, moving equipment, setting up and tearing down gear. During this time, I was teaching him the ins and outs of the business. A few years after DLS ended, my son started a band with a few of his friends. It was a simple garage band doing modern music from the likes of Chili Peppers, Disturbed, and others. This brought me back into doing sound again.
When this band ended, I setup a home studio in a spare room, in my house. How music is recorded has changed, it went from tape to digital. I spent the last 6 or 7 years teaching myself the ins and outs of the digital world of recording. Learning how DAWs work, acquiring plugins, downloading multi-tracks to mix. During this time, I started putting together a PA system that I would be proud using.
After the pandemic ended, I was looking for a way to more forward again with my music. When an opportunity arose to do sound again, I took it. The band is Infinity and I’m back in the game.
