Ok, folks. This is a tough one for me to write. I’m not quite sure how to put it all into words, but here goes nothing.
At the end of this calendar year, I will no longer be the drummer for Infinity.
For the past 9 years this band has brought me so much joy, I sincerely cannot put it into words. I’ve put my heart, soul, time, every single thing I have into this group. And even through all the changes, ups & downs (mostly ups), I don’t regret one single moment. I’ve had the chance and HONOR to play with some of the most generous, talented, dedicated musicians CNY has to offer. It really doesn’t get any better than these guys. We’ve played some not so great gigs together, we’ve also played some AMAZING gigs together. We’ve built from the ground up, from 0 followers to around 2500 or so (?) followers on Facebook. We’ve won the SAMMY award for best band. This band is everything any musician could ever want and more. And it’s because of the guys in the band. As you can tell, I really can’t say enough good things about these guys.
I’ve been playing the drums for over 30 years. I’ve been playing in bars with my Dad since I was about 10..in open mics and so on. I’ve been with countless groups. Some cover bands, a lot of originals. And I’ve played with some amazing musicians/people. But collectively, nothing quite hurts like this one. This one stings. I love these guys more than they will ever know. And don’t even get me started on how good they are at what they do..
Matt McGiff is the nastiest lead guitar player playing this music, period. And by nasty, I hope you know I mean incredible. There’s only 1 Matt McGiff. And how lucky are we to have him in Infinity.
Jamie Colucci is the most dedicated musician I’ve ever met. There’s nothing he isn’t willing to learn. And as I call him, he’s the ‘King of Sound Patches’. Lol. What you hear from him sounds just like the song you know on the radio.
Rick Wilson I mean, what is there to say? Guy sounds like Steve Perry. Isn’t that enough? Lol
And – Dave Impellizzeri. You guys don’t really know how good he is. You don’t get to see what this man is capable of because of the genre we play. Top 5, one of the best bass players I’ve ever seen. And what a pleasure it’s been for me to play with him.
I have to do what is best for my family, which is why I have to leave. I’m sorry I can’t elaborate, just know this was an extremely hard decision. I said before I have no regrets. Well, I have one.
And it’s that I didn’t have more time with these guys.
I have 3 gigs left with Infinity. Please check the image out to see where and when. I’d love to see as many of you out as possible.
Infinity will continue. They will be introducing their new, very talented drummer soon enough.
I have so much more to say. But I think its all better left unsaid. Thank you all for the endless, amazing support.
You all make doing what we do so worth it.
